Sustainability-Driven Innovation For A Better World

In recent years, consumers have increasingly chosen products with a sustainable source, influenced by the environmental, social, and ethical implications of their choices. This shift in consumer mindset is reshaping the market and driving businesses to prioritize sustainability.

At Vinh Wellness, innovation should drive progress and contribute to a better world. Sustainability-driven innovation is a business strategy that integrates sustainability principles into innovation. The goal is to create environmentally responsible, socially beneficial, and economically viable products, services, and processes. We apply sustainability principles to our manufacturing processes to minimize carbon footprint and conserve natural resources. That’s why we have invested in sustainability-driven innovation focusing on water management, energy consumption, waste management, and emission management.

1. WATER MANAGEMENT

One crucial aspect of our water management strategy is the reuse and recovery of wastewater. We have invested significantly in a state-of-the-art treatment center that ensures all discharged water meets quality standards. Additionally, we reuse separation water and condensate for washing raw materials, which not only conserves water but also saves energy on heating. Through these efforts, we have successfully reduced our water consumption by 175,000 liters daily, contributing to our commitment to sustainability. Over the period from 2018 to 2022, we have diligently monitored and recorded the statistics of freshwater input utilized within our operations.

2. WASTE MANAGEMENT

Waste management holds a prominent position in our commitment to environmental responsibility. Our efforts in this area encompass two key aspects: wastewater recovery and waste recycling. 

With over 100,000 m3 of clean water utilized in our production processes annually, we recognize the importance of treating wastewater responsibly. Our treated water eliminates up to 99% of heavy metals, pesticides, and non-biodegradable substances like PFAS. All discharged water meets quality standards thanks to our state-of-the-art treatment center. Environmental responsibility is a core value in all our operations. 

Additionally, we take our commitment to environmental sustainability seriously by minimizing the amount of solid waste generated during our production processes. To achieve this, we carefully monitor and control the use of additives, reducing the overall amount of waste produced. Additionally, we utilize the total generated sludge from our processing as a microbial organic fertilizer to improve agricultural land. By doing so, we not only reduce our solid waste but also contribute to sustainable agriculture and support local farmers. 


3. ENERGY CONSUMPTION
 

Managing energy consumption is essential for environmental protection as it reduces greenhouse gas emissions, conserves natural resources, minimizes air pollution, preserves ecosystems, promotes sustainability, and uses renewable energy sources. 

At Vinh Wellness, we value the importance of sustainable practices, including managing our energy consumption. We’re always looking for innovative ways to improve our equipment’s efficiency and aim to reduce our carbon footprint. We prioritize using European equipment as it helps us achieve our goal of minimizing power consumption. The statistical data from 2018 to 2022 demonstrates that our efficiency of electricity utilization for production has remained stable and gradually optimized throughout each year.

4. EMISSION MANAGEMENT 

Emission management is another crucial aspect of our sustainability-driven approach. To tackle excess heat loss and reduce CO2 emissions, we have implemented various measures. For instance, we have wrapped all Plate Heat Exchangers (PHEs) with an insulation layer, preventing heat from escaping into the air and maintaining a controlled working environment. Furthermore, we have adopted the use of rice husk, abundant biomass from agriculture, as fuel to generate steam. By doing so, we not only save energy costs but also create a closed-loop steam cycle by recycling the steam condensate, ultimately reducing our reliance on rice husk as a heat source. The table below illustrates that the stack emissions of SOX and NOX from rice husk boilers were lower than those from coal-fired and furnace oil boilers.

These findings highlight the environmental advantages of utilizing rice husk as a fuel source, as it reduces the emission of harmful gases like SOX and NOX compared to traditional coal-fired and furnace oil boilers. By opting for rice husk boilers, we prioritize cleaner and more sustainable energy solutions while mitigating the negative environmental impacts of emissions.
